Family
Dr. Jachin Y. Chan, also known as Chan Yin Man, was born on July 27, 1932. His father, Mr. Chen Kwock Yin, who passed away in 1952 when Dr. Chan was still young. As the elderst son, he and his widowed mother, Mrs. Chen Au-Yeung Yee, had to raise the family with young children.
Among his brothers were Micah Chan 陳翼民 , who was the fifth sibling, Brighton Kon Man Chan 陳幹民 , who was the sixth sibling, and Lap-Man Chan 陳立民, who was the seventh sibling. Jachin's sisters included Helen Yu, Ruth Chan 陳寶雲 (also known as Mrs. Yee Kwok Kee), who was the third sibling, and two other sisters named 陳寶琛 and 陳寶筠, who were the fourth and eighth siblings, respectively.
In 1963, Jachin married to Miss Lela Dong in Oakland, California, US. Jachin and Lela were blessed with two children, a son named Jachinson Wingate Chan and a daughter named Sherlynn Gaye Chan.
Dr. Chan mother passed away on November 14, 1993 and Dr. Chan followed his mother a month later on December 3, 1993.
