Content Description
This collection primarily documents Chung King Fai’s professional career as a theatre director, actor and television producer in Hong Kong. It contains scripts, production materials, house programmes, photographs, news clippings and office files, which reflect his work in theatre and television with various local organisations such as Hong Kong Baptist College, Hongkong Amateur Players’ Club (香港業餘話劇社), Hong Kong Television Players (香港電視劇團), Hong Kong Repertory Theatre (香港話劇團), Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies (香港戲劇協會), Television Broadcasts Limited, and Rediffusion Television Limited. Theatrical productions represented in the collection include “Our Town” (小城風光) (1965), “A Hatful of Rain” (浪子回頭) (1965), “A View from the Bridge” (橋頭遠眺) (1967), “Sorrows of the Gentry” (朱門怨) (1974), and “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” (登龍有術) (1981). Also included are a series of scrapbooks containing newspaper columns written by Chung King Fai for Sing Tao Daily and Ta Kung Pao. The collection also holds a small amount of materials related to his personal life and other professional activities including teaching. Materials in this collection span from the 1950s to the 2010s, with the bulk dating from the 1960s to the 1990s.
