Scope and Contents
After the Tiananmen Square incident in June 1989, Hong Kong people had widespread worry about Hong Kong’s future. The British government was also concerned about the impact on Hong Kong. Materials in this folder document some of these concerns. There are some Foreign Affairs Committee’s minutes and report on Hong Kong to the House of Commons in regards to Hong Kong’s future development and the situation after Tiananmen Square incident, some materials on Hong Kong People Saving Hong Kong Campaign 1989-1990 discussing the right of abode question, and a position paper on how to resolve the crisis and to encourage Hong Kong people to stay in Hong Kong.
