Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Rev. Kwok is a liberal Christian leader who is dedicated to promote democracy, direct election, religious freedom and social justice in Hong Kong and he has been active in political activities and movements for decades. When the British government negotiated with the Chinese government on the future of Hong Kong in the 1980s, there was rigorous discussion among the Hong Kong people on Hong Kong’s future political system and development, direct election, as well as the formulation of Basic Law. Rev. Kwok and many Christians were also very much concerned about these issues and therefore, actively discussed and expressed their concerns in different occasions. Rev. Kwok’s manuscripts, interviews and correspondence, newspaper clippings, reports and documents in this series reflect the views and opinions of Rev. Kwok and some Hong Kong people on these issues.
