The letter was sent from Raozhou (Jao Chou, 饒州), Jiangxi Province in China. It described the superstitious nature of the people, mentioned calling on a priest to perform special prayer for an epidemic which caused the death of 100 people, and shared a story of a Buddhist vegetarian lady breaking her diet due to ill health and one of her family member was baptised.
