Scope and Contents

Folder 1 (1955-1979) Post scripts are letters written by Dr. Carter Morgan from Hong Kong to supporters at home, numbered from 27 to 81. (1-26 written from Hawaii) They include items about church growth in Hong Kong, and biographical sketches of people involved in the Baptist work in Asia, especially in Hong Kong and Macau.

Folder 2 contains several clippings and sketches about Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Morgan. (1978, n.d.)

Folder 3 contains article by Dr. Morgan about the mission office. (1996)

Dr. Carter Morgan was born in Shandong (Shantung), China to Southern Baptist missionary parents in 1913. Educated Columbia Bible College, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, he married Agnes McMahan in 1947, and they were appointed to Hawaii in 1948. They transferred to Hong Kong in 1955, where Dr. Morgan served as Dean of the Hong Kong Baptist Seminary, until 1979. Following retirement, the Morgans served briefly at the Baptist Seminary in the Philippines, and again at the Baptist Seminary in Hong Kong.
