Campus Development

 Series
Identifier: UA.01-S02

Scope and Contents

The Campus Development series is a comprehensive collection of materials that provides detailed documentation of the building and development plans of Hong Kong Baptist College's Ho Sin Hang Campus and Shaw Campus. The subseries and files are generally arranged in chronological order, offering researchers a clear understanding of the college's growth over time.

The materials mainly consist of proposals, tenders, plans and sketches, correspondence, memoranda, government reports, feasibility studies, and meeting minutes. The meeting minutes include the HKBC building committee, fund-raising committee, site & building committee, site formation sub-committee, Panorama committee, and technical advisory committee on college development.

The series also includes reports related to the construction of individual buildings, correspondence with government officials, the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Shaw Campus, redevelopment projects of the Ho Sin Hang Campus, and some black & white photos of the campus. It is important to note that the folder containing personal information of the attendees in the ceremony is subject to confidentiality restrictions.

Folders cover some special facilities, such as the Shiu Pong Hall (紹邦樓), which served as the executive hall for College Board and Council meeting and the president's residence. And the cafeteria called "Panorama" on top of the semi-cylindrical building, C. S. Tse Memorial Hall (謝再生紀念館), was established in the 1970s.

A subseries in the collection contains mainly architectural drawings, including site plans and floor plans of individual projects. Some folded sketches are attached with the correspondence in the folder of the particular project, providing further insights into the college's building and development plans.
