Accreditation, 1970-1989, undated

This series contains a wide range of materials related to the accreditation process of the Hong Kong Baptist College (HKBC). These materials include correspondence, reports, statistical data, meeting minutes, interviews, institutional policies, guidelines, standards, and other reference materials.

Among these folders, one can find correspondence regarding HKBC's pursuit of accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. There are advisory notes from the Institute of International Education, an application for financial support from the Commission for the Advancement of Christian Higher Education in Asia to conduct the institutional self-study, and progress reports on this self-study. These resources provide valuable insights into the challenges HKBC faced and the efforts it made to achieve college status recognition

In 1978, the "Government White Paper on Senior Secondary and Tertiary Education, 1978" introduced the section of Post-Secondary Colleges, which formed the basis led to the Council for National Academic Awards (CNAA) assessment. The Director of Education arranged independent assessments to evaluate the standard upon which the award was based.

The records of HKBC’s accreditation process then focus on the CNAA validation exercises. These folders contain correspondences, meeting minutes, course documents, reports and other materials that document HKBC’s preparation for the CNAA validation visits. Additionally, the folders also include the reports from CNAA to the Director of Education, HKBC’s responses to the CNAA’s reports and recommendations, as well as several CNAA handbooks.
